Drugstore : Nude Lipstick

I am a huge fan of drugstore make-up and a firm believer that budget should never stand in the way of achieving a look that allows any woman to feel beautiful. The highstreet makeup displays have a lot to offer, and although it can take a few rounds of trial and error, there are gems to be found that will create a polished finish without breaking the bank.

I have a particular addiction to drugstore lipsticks and so I am going to dedicate the next two posts to my top picks for achieving the perfect pout. Whether it be a matte or glossy finish, a nude or bold colour, you can always find the perfect lipstick and this post shall be all about my drugstore winners for a flawless nude lip. I have put together my top five products ranging from lighter, brown shades to pink and mauve tones.

1. Maybelline Color Sensational : shade 725 'tantalizing taupe' - £6.99

This lipstick is for those that prefer a brown toned nude. I personally lean towards wearing shades with a slightly more pink undertone. This is the lightest nude I would dare to wear as it blends into my natural lip colour without making me look ill. As with all the Maybelline ColorSensational lipsticks, this product has a creamy  texture, is comfortable to wear, highly pigmented and at £6.99 a real bargain.

2. Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick : shade 03 - £5.49

I would describe this lipstick as the perfect balance between a pink and brown nude. It is slightly darker than your natural lip colour and would look gorgeous on any skin tone making it a must have in all beauty collections. This is the lipstick I throw on when I am in a rush and need a colour that I know will look natural and perfect paired with any makeup that I am wearing. As with all the highly popular Kate Moss lipsticks this has excellent pigmentation and is affordable at only £5.49.

3. Soap & Glory SuperColour FabuLipstick : shade 'The Missing Pink' - £9.00

This is a pink rather than brown toned nude with a gorgeous rosy finish. The Soap & Glory lipsticks have the best formulation of the drugstore brands I have tried, with shea butter and vitamin E on the list of ingredients, they are amazingly moisturising and easy to wear. One swipe offers a pigmented, opaque finish and the creamy consistency means it applies smoothly without highlighting any dry patches. At £9.00 it is slightly more expensive, however you really do receive a gorgeous lipstick.

4. Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm Stain : shade 205 'Elusive' - £7.99

For those that prefer a matte nude, these balm stains by Revlon are beautiful. They leave a perfect matte finish without being overly drying. This shade is a pink nude and slightly lighter than my natural lip colour. It looks perfect swiped all over the lips or, as I love to apply it, simply dab it on and then pat the colour into your lips with your finger. This offers a soft, natural pink finish that is subtle yet gorgeous.

5. L'oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick by Color Riche : shade 500 'Molto Mauve' - £8.99

I adore the 'liquid lipstick' formulation of these lipsticks, they are highly pigmented and offer a beautiful high-shine, glossy finish. The shade Molto Mauve is perhaps a touch too dark for some to still class as a nude, however I find it is the perfect shade. It is darker than my natural lip colour with a beautiful mauve undertone that is surprisingly subtle. It pairs perfectly with any makeup look and the darker tone offers a finish that is still natural yet slightly more noticeable.

With a range of brown and pink shades, I hope that there is a product to suit everyone's preference here, regardless of budget, and I would love to hear the hidden gems that you have found hiding away on those highstreet displays!
