Tutorial : Valentine's Day Makeup

This Valentine's Day I was inspired by a particular Estee Lauder eye shadow palette with gorgeous pink and rose shades to create a soft romantic look. I chose to steer away from the classic red lip, an obvious choice for a love themed look, and towards glowing flushed skin, rose gold eyes and a glossy mauve lip. Whether you are dining with friends, Prince Charming or one of the many frogs we have to kiss on our journey to Mr Right, you can rest assured that your makeup will be flawless.

To ensure this look lasts long into the night I used my Benefit Porefessional Primer as a base. On top I applied my L'Oreal Paris Lumi Magique foundation for a complexion reminiscent of dining in soft candle light, as this contains light infusing particles that creates a gorgeous 'lit from within' glow.

I then used the Estee Lauder Shadow Paint in the shade 'Halo' to create the perfect nude base for my eye shadow to sit on top off and to ensure it stays in place all evening. I simply patted this on with my ring finger and blended it out all over my lid.

I then used a palette that I stumbled across in Boots and completely fell in love with; the Estee Lauder Pure Color Trio in the shade 'Beach Metals'. This inspired the entire look and includes three mesmerising shades; a nude with a slight pink hue, a soft rose and a darker mauve, all three of which contain gorgeous flecks of gold shimmer. These are richly pigmented, blend seamlessly into one another and can be used dry or wet to intensify the colour.

I patted the lightest shade onto my lid with a flat shadow brush and then used a clean fluffy brush to blend this out. I then applied the soft rose colour to the outer half of my lid and blended this out through my crease. I used the darker mauve shade to add definition to the outer third of my lid and blended this up towards the end of my eyebrow to create a winged effect. I also took this on a smudge brush along my outer lower lash line and finally added the lightest shade as a highlighter to the inner corner of my eyes.

To define my lash line I added the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Liner in Black to my upper water line and added the Nude shade to my lower water line to open up my eyes. I finished the look by applying plenty of the Revlon Lash Potion Mascara to create the perfect fluttery lashes.

I dotted my Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in the shade 'Ivory' down the bridge of my nose as well as in a V shape under my eyes and along my cheekbones to add highlight to my skin. I blended this out with a precision concealer brush as well as my ring finger. I then used a large powder brush to add my Soap & Glory 'One Heck Of A Blot' to my t-zone to keep my foundation in place and prevent my skin from looking shiny.

I finished by adding a soft, natural flush to my skin by stippling the Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blusher in the shade 'Soft Pink' to the apples of my cheeks. On top of this I added my Max Factor Crème Puff Blush in the shade 'Nude Mauve'. This is a gorgeous bronze shade with mauve undertones that I softly brushed over my cheekbones and temples to add a subtle definition and glow.

I completed this look by using by finger to pat the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in the shade 'Sultry' onto my lips. Applying this as a base helps to lock the colour in place so that your lipstick will last for longer; perfect if you are planning a date.

I then added my L'Oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick in the shade 'Molto Mauve', which adds a gorgeous, richly pigmented gloss to your lips. Although, if a bold crimson pout is more to your taste then see my top drugstore picks for a red lip or see my suggestions if you love a classic nude.

I hope you love this look as much as I do and that it inspires your makeup for this Valentine's Day, no matter with who or where you are spending it. I would love to hear what you think in the comments below. Thank you for reading!
