This is the final post in
my three part series of the top foundation choices that the drugstore has to
offer. Today's post shall be dedicated to my top picks for a light coverage that
will allow your skin to breathe. If you prefer a full coverage foundation then
be sure to check out my previous post here, or click here for my top medium
coverage choices.
1. L'Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation: shade 'Rose Pearl' - £10.99
I love L'Oreal
foundations and this light infusing formula is another real winner. This claims
to create a 'lit from within' glow and is the perfect choice to add radiance to tired looking skin. This
was a new discovery of mine this summer and became my staple during the warmer
months. I also love to wear this as a lighter option when my skin is feeling a
little lacklustre. If I am having a particularly bad breakout, I simply add a heavier concealer to the areas
where I have blemishes. This provides coverage only on the precise areas where I need it and allows the areas of my skin that are clear to breathe.
It has a silky soft formula that hydrates your skin and
truly leaves you with a radiant, youthful complexion. It is a little more pricy
at £10.99, however the formulation is gorgeous and it has the benefit of an SPF
of 18. It is the perfect lighter option for when your skin is looking a little
dull and can be built up to a medium coverage.
2. Garnier BB Skin Perfector Oil Free: shade 'Light' - £9.99
I was never a fond lover of
the whole BB craze and found them to be an awkward hybrid of a foundation and
tinted moisturiser that I never found a place for in my collection. However
this brand by Garnier simply feels like a light coverage foundation and is purposely made for oily/combination skin. It
is oil free and so helps to even your skin tone and blur imperfections
whilst keeping you shine free. It has a fluid formula that provides the perfect
lightweight coverage that helps to mattify and hydrate your skin. However it
can be slightly messy, so always be careful when opening and storing the product.
As a Blemish Balm, it also claims to have added skincare benefits that will gradually
improve your skin texture. This is an aspect of the product that I remain slightly dubious about as
I am yet to see a real improvement in the condition of my skin. However, I am
onto my second tube of this and it has become my constant choice for both the
summer months, as it has the protection of an SPF 20, and any other days when I
feel like wearing only a light coverage.
I hope that this three
part breakdown of the best drugstore foundations helps you to choose the finish
and coverage that is perfect for you, or at least feel better equipped when you
are next faced with those extensive displays. I would love to hear what you
think in the comments below.
