The Perfect Winter Flush

In these colder months I love wearing a makeup look that recreates those perfect flushed cheeks, as though you've just stepped inside from the brisk winter air. However, with the harsher weather also comes the issue of desperately trying to keep your make up in place and looking flawless for as long as possible. This is my current blusher routine for achieving a natural, flushed complexion that can withstand the cold winter weather.

Firstly, I use the Real Techniques Stippling Brush to apply my Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blusher in the shade 14 'soft pink' to the apples of my cheeks. This is a gorgeous cream blush that adds the perfect dewy flush. It leaves behind a radiant glow and blends seamlessly into your skin, especially when stippled on with the Real Techniques brush.

I have oily/combination skin, however I find that this cream blush stays on my cheeks for a decent amount of time and does not instantly melt away. Although, to ensure the colour stays in place I like to apply a powder blush on top. The Revlon Powder Blush in the shade 03 'Marvelous' is a particularly good colour match to the Max Factor cream. This is a soft, silky powder that leaves a satin finish and keeps the glow to your skin whilst securing the colour in place. The powder is also highly pigmented and a little dusting definitely goes a long way. I apply this to the apples of my cheeks using my Real Techniques Blush Brush, which perfectly dispenses the colour evenly across my skin.

Finally I use the same Blush Brush to apply a small amount of the Soap & Glory 'Love at First Blush' Multi-Shade Blushing Powder across the tops of my cheekbones. I find that this acts more as a highlighter rather than a blusher. It offers a soft pink, subtle shimmer to the cheekbones that finishes the look with a gorgeous luminous glow.

I hope this gives you some inspiration as to how to achieve that perfect rosy glow this winter and I would love to hear your tips and tricks when it comes to applying blusher!
